Biography

Mohamed Bahnassy is the Professor of Soil Science, Alexandria University, Egypt. He has completed his Graduation from the department of soil and water sciences.He was faculty of agriculture, Alexandria University in 1982, He got MS in 1987 in soil survey and land evaluation,and obtained PhD in 1993 about the application of GIS for the analysis of dryland watershed. He became a full professor in 2003, and worked in several projects as a database administrator and GIS specialist. Moreover, He supervised several national, international and Arab Master and Doctoral students. In 1998, He won a Fulbright scholarship to carry out research related to GIS and remote sensing for the sustainable development. Moreover, He carried out a training course in 2003 at the Arabian Gulf University, about handling soil survey data using arc view GIS. Recently, He is the principal investigator for the project "Assessment of Potential Climate Change Impact on Nile Delta and Developing Adaptation Strategies" funded by Alexandria UniversityResearch Enhancement Program (ALEXREP).

Research Interest

Soil and land use surveys using the advanced techniques of GIS and remote sensing, watershed characterization and management, applying spatial analysis (geostatistics) for characterizing and mapping of soil attributes, temporal analysis, change detection, land evaluation, and studying the impact of climate change on the land and water resources.
